Life is like a library owned by an author. In it are a few books which he wrote himself, but most of them were written for him. - Harry Emerson Fosdick

Dr. Robert L. Hartzell Scholarship
The Friends of the New Port Richey Library have created the Dr. Robert L. Hartzell Scholarship fund for any library staff member who wishes to take graduate coursework for the Masters in Library Science (MLS) degree. It is a $750 scholarship which would pay for the first semester of coursework.
Dr. Hartzell served on a Board of Trustees that actually ran the library starting in 1955. After the city began overseeing the library, he continued service on this board until 2004. He was the only library board member to have emeritus status. Dr. Hartzell also served on the District School Board of Pasco County.
