StoryWalk®

Empanadas for Everyone.jpg

For an outdoor activity that's fun for the entire family, visit our StoryWalk®! First installed in March of 2020, our StoryWalk® takes you down a 1/4 mile trail through the preserve, reading a story together along the way. A new story is installed three times a year, each featuring additional early literacy activities and interactive tasks to enhance the story as you go.

Our StoryWalk® is located at the James E Grey Preserve, 6938 Plathe Road, New Port Richey.

Currently featured title: Empanadas for Everyone by Jackie Azúa Kramer, illustrated by Lenny Wen.

The story follows a young girl named Carina as she helps her aunt, Tía Mimi, make empanadas. Along the way, Carina gathers ingredients from her neighborhood, discovering the connections among her neighbors and the joy that comes from sharing in the cooking process.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT, and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
