Seed Exchange Library

The New Port Richey Public Library launched its Seed Exchange Library in August 2013 as part of a growing effort to support community resilience and food sustainability. This free seed-sharing project allows community members to browse and take home seeds—no checkout required. Simply let a staff member at the Member Support Desk know how many packets you're taking.

All seeds in the collection are organic and non-GMO, with a focus on providing nourishing, wholesome food to our community. We also encourage members to support the exchange by donating seeds they have harvested. A seed donation form is available at the library for anyone who would like to contribute to the collection.

Since its inception, thousands of seeds have been distributed, and the program continues to grow thanks to community involvement and generosity. It has also inspired other libraries in the region to start similar initiatives of their own.
